Founder Film Team
Film Team grew from the founding of a young filmmaker’s club at Prestatyn’s community-built Scala Cinema in 2009 by Jan Miller. After participating in the National Theatre Wales production of The Beach in 2010, a core group were encouraged to make films by and for themselves. Supported by Miller and National Theatre Wales' TEAM initiative, they subsequently made 'The Lighthouse' and 'unreel' at the Scala. Individual filmmaking also saw horror short, The Child, win Prestatyn's 2011 Youth Arts Film Festival; The Snowman Most Promising Filmmaker at Galeri's PICS in 2012 and Don't Look Back take 2nd place in the Secondary School category. For the Olympiad in 2012. They took part in Mark Kermode's UK-wide Olympiad Hansel of Film and Panasonic's Film Nation Olympic Shorts with 'Running Blind' and 'Knife Edge'. Several members of the original group, now aged 18-23 study Drama, Art, Film and English Literature, with Adam 'The Child' Dawson currently working as cinematographer on films including Womble, Grandpa God and Valentines.
